Nicole is one of Townsville’s finest psychologists, starting out in a private practice 19 years ago in her home town of Ayr. Nicole is a registered Psychologist and a member of the Australian Psychological Association ( APS ) As a registered psychologist Nicole is registered with a large number of private health funds and Medicare. So you are able to claim either of these rebates for your appointment with Nicole.
People seeking help from a psychologist can get a good rebate from Medicare. The Medicare rebate is about $84.40 for an 1 hour appointment. To be eligible for Medicare rebates a referral from your GP, or Paedtrician or Psychiatrist with a mental health plan is needed. To get this plan you need to visit your doctor for the plan, it is essential that when booking the GP appointment you ask for a “long appointment” as it takes a little extra time to write up the Mental Health Care Plan. Remember you need to bring this plan along with you to your first appointment with Nicole to be able to claim through Medicare. You can claim up to 12 individual sessions a year through medicare. You can not use Medicare and then claim the difference on private health insurance. It’s one or the other. If you would like more information about medicare and claiming this fact sheet will answer just about any other question. http://www.psychology.org.au/Assets/Files/Medicare_Fact_Sheet1.pdf
Private Health Rebates
All private health rebates are different depending on which fund you are in. We recommend that you check with your fund prior to the appointment, simply give them a call and see what you are entitled to. Nicole has a Hicaps facility which means you swipe your health fund card, it processes your rebate and you only pay the gap amount. For your convenience we accept payment with cash, cheque, direct deposit, Visa, Mastercard and have EFTPOS facilities.
